Our Good Friend & Washington State's Premier Turkey Call Maker

1921 - 2008

We'll miss you!

Welcome to the official website of the Lake Washington Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF)!  We are one of several chapters of the NWTF located within Washington State. We are based in Bellevue, Washington.  We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  We are a group of individuals dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage.

Each year we host our annual Hunting Heritage Banquet & Auction.   This event is an intregal part of the NWTF's mission to conserve the wild turkey and improve habitat.  Funds raised at this event also help finance these projects as well as JAKES, Wheelin' Sportsman, and Women in the Outdoors education programs.  At the Hunting Heritage Banquet and Auction we have raffles, live and silent auctions, door prizes, sporting art prints, bronze sculptures, catered dinner, and no-host bar.

The Mercerwood Shore Club provides a wonderful atmosphere for this event and the dining is very good.   You'll also have the opportunity to meet people like yourself who share a love of the outdoors and hunting wild turkeys.

Our next Hunting Heritage Banquet and Auction is Saturday, April 5, 2008

Tip of the Month

Okay, I know you've heard it before but it can't be stressed enough.  If you have permission to hunt on private property be sure to leave the land better than you found it the day you hunted.  Be a good steward of the land that was entrusted for your use.  Pick up your shotgun casings, pick up an aluminum can along the way, and ask the property owner for a garbage can to place the trash.  He'll appreciate that you took care of his property.  You'll look good and you'll make all of us in the hunting community look better to those who don't hunt.

Finally, after you've hunted spend a few bucks and get your property owner a gratuity.  A canned ham, some chocolate, coffee, and some gourmet cookies in a nice gift basket will go a long way in securing your hunting privileges for a long time.  If you do this, rest assured you'll be welcomed back.
